Who We Are
Our Mission
Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA) is an all breed, all-foster (no physical shelter), dog and cat rescue organization, based in Wake County, North Carolina. Since our establishment in 1998, we have rescued and placed over 3,800 cats and dogs into their forever homes.
Our Mission is to give all rescued animals a chance to find their forever home, no matter their medical condition. Whether it is a senior, a pregnant mother, a heartworm positive dog, or an animal who needs immediate surgery, BFPA does not turn away or euthanize an animal due to the expense involved in returning them to good health.
What We Do
Current Volunteer Opportunities
All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age for insurance reasons.
BFPA is an all-volunteer organization and we could not exist without the volunteer efforts of professionals, college students, pet parents, and community members like you. BFPA is an all-foster home network meaning we have no facility, so volunteering does not always mean regular direct contact with animals, but every volunteer role is vital to helping our animals find their forever families.
We are typically most in need of volunteers who have leadership, planning and organizational skills to help with the run the ‘business’ part of the organization over time. These roles are so critical to our success and yet, often the ones that are hardest to fill, because everyone wants to volunteer with the animals, but these roles are very much FOR the animals.
