The Agriculture Education Intern will assist in implementing educational programs focused on sustainable agriculture, food security, and community engagement. The intern will work closely with the Agriculture Education Coordinator to ensure successful delivery of programs such as the Growing School Gardens (GSG) Program, field trips, workshops, and community activities. This role provides hands-on learning and community involvement opportunities, with a laptop provided for computer work.

DCRC is seeking compassionate and empowering volunteers to join our team providing services to victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking who call our crisis line. As a volunteer Crisis Line Advocate, you will play a pivotal role in assessing needs, offering essential information, formulating safety plans and making referrals to clients and their families. Your support through compassionate listening and identifying and addressing client needs will make a daily impact on survivors of abuse and assault.

You will receive over 20 hours of training and role playing of crisis calls prior to answering a phone. No volunteer is put to work until they are confident and comfortable. Bi-lingual Spanish speakers are needed also!

The Center for Volunteer Caregiving is a nonprofit organization serving Wake County. All of our services are provided at no charge by volunteers. We have three different programs that we use to assist seniors and adults with disabilities: transportation, in-home connections, and caregiver respite.

In-Home Connections volunteers visit seniors and adults with disabilities in their homes and on the phone who are isolated, offering support and friendship. Volunteers also can help around the house with some household chores and paperwork assistance. Volunteers are matched one-on-one with a care receiver. We need a wood worker to build one or more display cases, at their own location.  We pay for materials.

As a member of labor team, you will be called upon, maybe about once a month, when there is a need to move furniture, receive or pick-up donations or any other physical assistance need.  It would be a plus if you had a truck to help move items. 

As a member of the storage team, you will be responsible for transporting donations received at the office to our storage location. Also, assisting our lead organizer as needed in sorting and organizing donations primarily in our kitchen section of the storage room.  A team member needs to be able to lift heavy boxes at times.

Habitat for Humanity Sanford Area, NC is seeking volunteers to help us build strength, stability, self reliance and shelter!  Habitat Homes are built almost entirely by both skilled and unskilled volunteers.  No experience is necessary and all equipment and safety gear is provided.  Build Site volunteers must be at least 16 years old.  Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and tasks may be limited.

Tutoring for School Aged Children levels kindergarten through high school

We need people who enjoy spending quality time with children to volunteer to read Pre-k books to a small group of students on a weekly basis. Reading time frame is between 30 min. to 1 hour.

The Miracle League of the Triangle has been connecting the special needs community to yours for the past 17 years! With over 550 athletes & three fields within the Triangle we need over 4,000 volunteers every season to makes sure our players are supported! 

You will help our athletes play baseball to the best of their ability; no baseball experience is required! we train you to be GREAT buddies!

Each volunteer shift is three hours long where you will be paired 1-1 with one of our athletes. You will help them bat, run the bases, and make a new friend! 

ESL tutors provide English language instruction either one-on-one or in small groups of students who are at a similar level of English proficiency. These students come to us from all over the world and speak many different first (and often second and third) languages. Our classes are therefore full-English immersion, and we do not expect our tutors to be fluent in any language other than English. 

Once 12 hours of training is completed, this position will provide English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to adults.  Sessions can be one-on-one or small group, in-person or virtual.

You can be part of a team that helps and responds to over 60,000 emergencies every year. DAT volunteers offer a caring and compassionate ear, work with affected families to ensure they have the disaster-caused needs met, such as lodging and clothing, and connecting them with long term recovery services. Our volunteers ensure that families don’t have to face tough times alone. 

Volunteers are asked to sign-up for on-call shifts. This is based on your availability. Shift options include daytime, overnight and weekend shifts. During an on-call shift, you may receive a call to respond to multiple disasters (like home fires) in your community, or you may not receive any. Every shift is different.

DAT volunteers will serve throughout Harnett County when a disaster strikes.

As you may know, Family House serves as a comforting haven for patients and their families who are facing medical challenges away from  home.  the Daily operations of Family House involve numerous tasks, and folding linens is on of them.  By dedicating an hour or two of your time you can directly contribute to creating a warm and welcoming environment for those staying with us. 

No prior experience is necessary as members of our volunteer team will guide you through the process.  All you need is a willingness to make a small difference. 

Bull City YouthBuild:  a community-based pre-apprenticeship program that provides job training and educational opportunities for at-risk youth ages 16-24 who have dropped out of high school. Staff (instructors, case managers, job developers) assist participants in their goals to learn skills, earn GED’s, engage in community service, and prepare for postsecondary training and education opportunities including college, apprenticeships, and employment.

Prior to beginning tutoring, you will be asked to complete a short online training course to introduce you to our training materials and share the basics of lesson planning for our student population. During your time volunteering with the JLC, you will be asked to create and execute lesson plans with your student. You will be given access to an online database of lesson plans and educational materials that can serve as tools for creating these plans. Each month, you will be asked to submit a detailed report of both the work you are doing and the student’s academic progress. Tutors are asked to keep records of attempted academic interventions and student attendance. 

Practicum Leads help coordinate a small group of 5 students as they create and deploy a project in our 8-week practicum. This role is great for developers who want to work with more advanced students.

BAO Mentors are available for scheduled 1:1 meetings with students to answer specific questions or resolve blockers. They also review student assignments and provide feedback to students.

Group mentors hold weekly office hours sessions for small groups of 5-7 students. During these sessions, mentors review the week’s concepts, answer students' questions, or demonstrate how to approach assignments through pair programming.

El Futuro is a community-based nonprofit organization that seeks to transform Latino-serving mental health care in North Carolina and beyond. They provide bilingual and culturally-responsive mental health services including therapy, psychiatry, substance use treatment, and case management in a welcoming environment of healing and hope. 

Individuals and families can receive mental health services from practitioners. El Futuro is looking for Spanish-speaking volunteers to conduct Client Satisfaction Surveys post-appointments to ensure clients' needs are being met. This opportunity is very relational, front-facing, and rewarding.

The Durham Visitor Center Volunteer plays a vital role in the visitor's introduction to Durham as a whole. This position helps to ensure visitors leave with an educated, positive, and fulfilling experience.

-A self motivated individual with customer service experience to serve as a link between HAC and vendors. Ideally familiar with the local food truck scene, OR past experience working with food & beverage vendors at events.

Calling all shoppers! We need you to help us shop at the Southern Pines Food Bank, where we can make purchases of needed food at very low prices. You'll complete a short training session during your firs trip, and then you'll be ready to help us get the food we need to assist our clients.

Free Little Libraries are set up through Lee County, NC to inspire a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the community.

The idea behind these little libraries is that people in the community can borrow books from and place books in them.  Donations of used books help to keep these libraries stocked with material for all ages.

Maintain operation during shift, answering crisis line during shift hours, providing support and advocacy to clients, safety planning, making referrals to the support group and other services and agencies as determined by community referral plan, provide case management service for shelter residents, provide shelter screening, intake and orientation, assist clients with law enforcement, courts, and medical systems, maintain client records on a daily basis and assure confidentiality.

Mission

The mission of Reach One Mentor Program (ROMP) is to reach at risk youth in our community and help them reach their potential through one-on-one mentoring partnerships.

Who is Involved

Boys and Girls (ages 11-15) residing in the Dunn area and living primarily in single-parent families, or are in need of a secondary role model. They are children who want and need a one-on-one relationship with an adult friend. These children are generally growing up in the absence of a father and/or mother’s influence.

Referrals come from parents, school personnel, various agencies and the children themselves. each child is invited to attend a mandatory sex abuse prevention orientation to obtain information. Parents are strongly encouraged to also attend this session.

Mentors are carefully screened volunteers. They must supply reliable references; go through background checks and an interview before being accepted as a volunteer.

Like the child, our volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. They are at least eighteen (18) years old, single or married, or perhaps have families of their own. Some have grown up in single-parent families themselves or others just know they want to be of help to a child in a direct and significant way.

Length of commitment

At least one year to include 4 hours a month.

We are operating a Day Center for the homeless in our community.  This center is located at 219 Maple Ave, inside of the Bread of Life.  We offer a hot breakfast everyday.  We are always in need of

This donation can be dropped off between the hours of 9am-2pm Monday thru Friday at the Bread of Life.

We are in need of donations of all sizes of diapers, wipes, and feminine products to help stock our Happy Bottoms Bank. 

Not everyone is able to afford these necessities.  We want to help where we can.  Individuals needing assistance are able to request each type of item on a monthly basis.  

Donations can be dropped off one of our two current community drop off sites (Lee County Public Library or Books at a Steal) or you can call our office at 919-774-9496 to arrange a time to drop off at the office.
