Volunteer: Transportation for Seniors NeedThe Center for Volunteer Caregiving is a nonprofit organization serving Wake County. Our mission is to engage the diverse Wake County community by providing volunteer service solutions in an inclusive and welcoming environment to improve the lives of seniors, family caregivers and adults with disabilities. All of our services are provided at no charge by volunteers. We have three different programs that we use to assist seniors and adults with disabilities: transportation, in-home connections, and caregiver respite.
We are in great need of transportation volunteers all across Wake County. Transportation volunteers provide escorted round-trip rides for those who don't drive, can't use public transportation, and have no one to help. Our transportation program allows seniors and adults with disabilities to get to their medical appointments, the grocery store/food pantry, and the pharmacy. To help with this vital service the volunteer would need a car, a good driving record, and 2-4 hours of time per ride. Volunteers determine when and how often they drive.
