Who We Are

Toxic Free North Carolina, founded in 1986, is a nonprofit organization that protects North Carolina from pesticide pollution by advocating for a precautionary approach to regulation of chemicals and promoting common-sense alternatives that protect our health and environment.

What We Do

Toxic Free NC is the leading pesticide education, outreach and advocacy organization in the state.

We focus on reducing toxic exposures for the people whose health is most at risk from pesticides, including low-income communities, children, pregnant women, migrant farmworkers, and other vulnerable populations.

Our Toxic Free Kids (TFK) program focuses on minimizing pesticides and other hazardous toxics in children's environments, both indoors and outside. Due to their size, behaviors, and stages of development, children are among the most vulnerable to exposure as well as the impacts associated with toxicants.

The Just and Sustainable Agriculture (JSA) program focuses on protecting the environment, workers, and consumers from toxic pesticide pollution; and addressing the systemic flaws of industrial agriculture by promoting expansion of regenerative climate-resilient agriculture.
