Who We Are

Occoneechee Council was chartered in 1929 to provide young people in Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Lee, Moore, Orange, Vance, Wake and Warren Counties with responsible fun and adventure while instilling in them lifetime values leadership and ethical character development.  Over the last 90 years we have grown into one of the largest and most prominent youth development organizations in North Carolina. Scouting has changed in many ways since our founding. But one thing has not changed – the values as expressed in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. For close to a century, Occoneechee Council has instilled North Carolina’s youth with the values of leadership, responsibility, patriotism, morals, and service to others.
