Who We Are: Stagville Descendants Council The Stagville Descendants Council is a dedicated organization representing the voices and legacy of descendants of the Stagville Plantation in North Carolina, one of the most extensive plantations in the antebellum South. We are a community rooted in resilience, justice, and preservation, united by a commitment to honor the lives and contributions of our ancestors. Our mission is to empower descendants through education, advocacy, and community development while ensuring that the history of the enslaved descendants of Stagville is preserved and shared for future generations. We strive to create meaningful opportunities for connection, growth, and equity within our communities while amplifying the stories of those whose labor and lives shaped the history of this land. As stewards of this legacy, we aim to inspire action, foster understanding, and promote systemic change through initiatives addressing racial justice, historic preservation, and community upliftment.
